  • Panhellenic Establishment at Mississippi State University

Mississippi State University has been the home to Panhellenic sororities for over 70 years. In 1936, the first Panhellenic sorority came to MSU. It was the Phi Delta chapter of Chi Omega to begin the growth of the Panhellenic community in Starkville. However, it was not until 1940, when the Gamma Zeta chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha was established at MSU that a Panhellenic Council was developed. Over the next three decades the Panhellenic community continued to grow here in Starkville, Mississippi. The following chapters were added to MSU as follows: the Kappa Alpha chapter of Phi Mu in 1961, the Delta Lambda chapter of Delta Gamma in 1969, the Delta Omega chapter of Kappa Delta in 1971, and the Beta Mu chapter of Tri Delta in 1972.  Finally, in January of 2009, the Panhellenic community welcomed the newly established, Mississippi Gamma chapter of Pi Beta Phi!
