DELTA GAMMA

BETA XI CHAPTER

ABOUT DELTA GAMMA AT MICHIGAN STATE:

Delta Gamma is one of the oldest and largest women's sororities in the United States and Canada, with over 210,000 members worldwide. It has 148 collegiate chapters in the United States and Canada and 131 alumnae chapters. The Beta Xi chapter was founded at Michigan State in 1946. Delta Gamma fosters high ideals of friendship among women, promotes their educational and cultural interests, creates in them a true sense of social responsibility and develops in them the best qualities of character.

GPA REQUIREMENT:  Incoming Freshmen 3.0; Collegians 2.5

PHILANTHROPY: SERVICE SIGHT

Protecting the gift of sight is one of Delta Gamma's highest priorities. Through the four schools founded by Delta Gamma, children who are blind or visually impaired learn specialized skills and are provided the resources they need to thrive. Service for Sight has been at the heart of the Delta Gamma mission since 1936 when a sister from the Eta chapter in Akron, Ohio lost her eyesight, and the Delta Gamma Foundation made their philanthropic mission to provide aid to the blind. Delta Gamma also works with Joining Forces to support and give back to service men and women who have experienced vision impairment, eye trauma or vision loss.

PHILANTHROPY EVENT: ANCHORSLAM

Anchor Slam was a basketball tournament designed to engage the Greek and campus community through an accessible and high-energy event. Participants competed in bracket-style games, with all funds raised supporting Service for Sight. The event emphasized teamwork, inclusion, and Delta Gamma’s commitment to giving back.

PHILANTHROPY EVENT: ANCHORTEE

Anchor Tee is Delta Gamma’s annual golf outing that takes place at Hawk Hollow Golf Course. This event involves collegians, families and the local community in raising funds and awareness for Service for Sight.

PHILANTHROPY EVENT: SERVICE DOGS

Delta Gamma also works with Leader Dogs for the Blind. Our “Pizza and Puppies” event raises money for the service dog organization by collecting donations for pizza and it allows students to interact with the dogs at the Rock.

PHILANTHROPY EVENT: SERVE IT FOR SIGHT

Serve It for Sight was a pickleball tournament that combined a fast-growing sport with philanthropy. Open to players of all skill levels, the event encouraged broad participation while raising funds for Service for Sight. It highlighted Delta Gamma’s ability to adapt creative fundraising ideas to current campus interests.
